When Strong Relationships Start Driving Better Work Performance

The first steps in Inspire-Tech’s journey with Growthbeans were about creating a workplace where people felt safe to speak up.

As trust grew, conversations became more open. Team members became better at listening, understanding different perspectives, and supporting one another through challenges. That was where social well-being began to take shape not as another workplace initiative, but as something people experienced every day through the way they worked together.

But over time, another question emerged.

“What happens when these stronger relationships become part of how work gets done?”

“I realised our conversations weren’t just becoming more open but they were becoming more productive. We spent less time defending ideas and more time building on each other’s.”
— Rostina, Inspire-Tech’s Team member

“It changes the way that I look at interacting with my co-workers. It provides us with a space, that allows more transparent communication, understanding the context behind most actions that my co-workers make.”
— Mark, inspire-Tech’s Team member

t’s easy to think of workplace relationships as something that improves morale or culture. Those things matter, but their impact doesn’t stop there. When people genuinely starts to open up to one another, work starts to move differently.

Questions are asked earlier instead of assumptions being made. Feedback becomes easier to receive because it comes from a place of trust. Team members become more willing to ask for help before small issues become larger ones.

Support is no longer something that only appears during difficult moments. It becomes part of everyday collaboration. This was something Inspire-Tech gradually experienced through the consistency of the Growth Circles.

As these behaviours became more natural, the effects could be seen in the way teams worked together. Cross-functional discussions became more productive because people were listening to understand, not simply waiting to reply. Decisions were made with more perspectives considered, leading to better outcomes.

New ideas surfaced more often because people felt more comfortable contributing them. When people collaborate openly, and know they have support around them, they spend less energy navigating workplace friction and more energy creating value.

For Inspire-Tech, the journey with Growthbeans has shown that investing in people isn’t separate from achieving business outcomes. The two are closely connected. When people continue growing together, better collaboration becomes part of everyday work and performance becomes a natural outcome of a healthier workplace.

In the next article, we’ll explore how these changes influence leadership, and how leaders can create environments where both people and performance continue to grow together.
